From these photos, it is clear to see the enormous disparity between rental costs and purchase costs for VHS tapes. Even the look and feel of these stickers brings back memories for fans of video shop culture. Do any of you have any more? We'll add them to this gallery!

I would love to hear from anyone who paid the full selling price to own tapes before their retail release. I remember purchasing The Armour of God (Jackie Chan, 1986) from Ladds Video in Kings Heath for the full rental cost but thankfully it only cost £9.99. Surely, the higher the rental cost of the tape the more rentals it was intended to receive I recall seeing a similar sticker on a rental tape for Commando (Mark Lester, 1985) for £79.99. Perhaps The Armour of God was cheaper because it was a niche title and did not expect to have too many rentals?
